Pink fluffy 4th
Just finished our 4th of July feast… Braised short ribs in the pressure cooker… melt in your mouth goodness. Stir-fried chard with bacon. Fruit salad & of course, the traditional pink fluff.
The girls gave us a little parade… featuring Miss Wisconsin & Miss Colorado. They’re going to sleep in the truck tent tonight. No fireworks near us because of the high fire danger. You might be able to see how hazy it was here today. It’s the smoke from the wildfires in Wyoming.
Honors
Addison and Ellis were both honored at a ceremony recently. Addison took the SATs and Ellis took an early version of the ACT test called the Explore test.
Both of them scored well, but the best reason for the taking the tests was for the practice.
Ellis received a perfect score in one sub-category of the test, so she received a medal.
Another random round up
A picture John sent from Italy.. and a video of some event in Italy they attended.
Ellis got a new outfit to wear to a big ceremony next weekend. She’ll be getting a special honor for scoring in the top 10% in a subcategory of the ACT Explore test.
Ellis is 10-years old, 5-foot-one and those cute sandals she’s wearing are size 8-and-a-half. Something tells me she’s going to be tall.
Random roundup
So, it’s cold here with a little snow. The hummingbirds are freezing their tiny, little beaks off and are fueling up on some sugary deliciousness to stay warm.
Addison and I saw a VW Thing in Morrison this morning. She said it looked like a homemade jalopy. It was primer white.
John is still in Italy and missed his birthday here. But he did send a picture of his fancy hotel room.
Today’s Tom Sawyer
This is a project for Ellis’ 4th grade class. She made 3 TV commercials as they would have been in Tom Sawyer’s time. She helped plan and produce the video, then she edited the whole thing by herself. The actors? Never seen ’em before in my life. Don’t know who they are and don’t care to know.
